rudy's is some good barbecue. especially the one in new braunfels. as is coopers in llano and mason. underwood's in brownwood is pretty good also! i'm only 17 but i love my BBQ!!

Has this guy ever been to Texas? The Hill country doen't have ALL the best BBQ. Believe me there is great BBQ all over and it is WHO cooks it NOT where you are. And true at a butcher shop they wrap my order in paper, but if I am eating in better be on a plate. Even if it is a paper plate!

I have to disagree with the man in the video. The wood primarily used in the hill country of Texas is Musquite which grows wild all over this state.

I was raised in the Hill Country and worked in BBQ joints, and this place looks like a bad version of what some yankee thinks a BBQ place is supposed to be like. Agree with issieb123, mesquite is the dominant wood, with some oak and pecan for other flavor.

Talk about good Q - does anyone know if it is still there - or remember Ken Hall's in Fredericksburg, TX? Wow - those were some of the best ribs ever. I am a Rudy's fan as well - best brisket and the turkey - yum! as far as atmosphere - Salt Lick is hard to beat for sure. Ken Hall's - totally awesome ribs. I live in KY now and do my own - I can't even come close to some of that Texas BBQ! KYLandSales Brad
