DON'T! And the larynx dosesn't lower automatically when you inhale, thats a habit like any other. The larynx should be free to move. Unless your going for a "dopey" effect when your singing, or you want to do a bad immatation of an oper singer, your larynx has to be free to move. In general, but not all,opera singers will not all as much movement as non-classical singers. Watch actual singers, on youtube for example, and if you can see their Adam's apple, you will see how free it moves.
